Small scene, sunlit succulent

Thanks to Sarah, Jennifer, and David for a really great Small Scenes webinar.
This is a potted succulent in our backyard. I used my crop sensor DSLR and 200-500 lens at 500mm, on a tripod. 1/800 second, f/5.6, and ISO 400. I don’t have a true macro lens, just some extension tubes, but in this case I tried something different with this big lens. I love how some early morning sun broke through the overcast sky to just light the tip!

The colors and tones are beautiful in this Mark! Did you rotate this or was this stem sticking out to the side like that? Nice work finding something to photograph in your backyard!

Thanks David,
This is the natural position, sticking out from the side. Here’s the full scene showing the pot it lives in…I like this one too, just totally different.
