Sunrise on Mount Sneffels from Dallas Divide. Lined up with probably a hundred other photographers for a fall sunrise. The aspens weren’t really all golden yet, so the color version is not that striking. However, I noticed the light zigzagging up the slope, the fresh snow, the clouds and said to myself, “Self, this is going to be cool in monochrome.” This photo was donated to the Rocky Mountain Field Institute and was a finalist in the Mountain Category. People we know ended up buying it!
